The Anglican Church of Our Saviour, Blockhouse Bay are asking for donations to assist a young refugee family to NZ.  This young man worked for a human rights organisation in The Congo which campaigns against land mines, cluster munitions, and had an interview published while attending an international conference in NZ.  People in The Congo have warned him not to go home.  The family have been granted
refugee status, including visas and travel documents but they need to be used by Nov 28, 2009.  There is urgency in bringing his family to NZ.
The young man has found a full time job and is saving for air fares for his 5 family members.  So far, he’s raised $1000.  The International Migrant Organisation has promised to loan 50% of money if he can find the other 50%.
Please contact Michael if you are able to assist even in a small way.
